Vibrant tenor Gabriel Anthony-Muhammad(they/them), a New Jersey native, started their journey in music at the young age of 10 years old. They studied with a wide range of teachers learning a variety of instruments from piano, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and voice. Known for their rich tone and ability to fill a room with their voice, Muhammad brings a uniqueness to opera.  As an instrumentalist they toured the country performing in several different ensembles. They began studying voice in 2015 after being heard in a vocal methods course and being pushed towards becoming a vocalist though never having proper training. Since then they have won an been a finalist in several different voice competitions, including NJNATS in 2016 and 2017 and Opera Ebony in 2017.  Muhammad posses a passion for composing and programming music. They have composed for many different mediums such as woodwind ensemble, concert band, brass band, pitched percussion, percussion ensembles, choral works, opera, as well as suites and art songs for piano and voice. Gabriel is constantly broadening and widening their horizons as a musician and composer. They have successfully programmed and performed multiple solo voice recitals entitled. Their unique taste and enjoyment of programming can be attributed to their diverse and eclectic musical palette. Muhammad attributes their unique sound and composing style to their diverse daily musical diet as well as their studies in West African culture and music.
